The body is a temple.

We have all heard this expression before.

It’s something you know in your skin, your bones, and your sinew.

But what does it actually mean to live as though your body was a temple? Or even more accurately, a living altar?

Cleopatra could have explained well.

This legendary queen is well known for her powers of seduction, but there is more to this dame than just her penchant for persuasion.  Cleopatra believed herself to be the Goddess Isis incarnated. Because of this, her milk baths were not just a way of relaxing after a long day. They were her way of sanctifying and restoring the walls of her body temple.  Her signature kohl rimmed eyes were more than just a fashion trend.  They were a statement that said “These eyes are a portal to eternity. Look away at your own risk.”

Since I was a little girl, there has always been something about worshipping the body through beauty and spa ritual that felt native to me.  When I was ten years old I would ask my Mom to play “health spa” with me.  While she put on her mint green satin pajamas, I would dim the lights and place a big jar of pink avon body cream inside a heating pad to warm it up.  While we were waiting for her massage cream to warm, I would paint her nails and put makeup on her face.  (Thanks for your patience Mom.)

When you touch and care for your own body, chemicals of bonding and love are released, just like when you touch another person. Therefore, when you give your body a good rubdown after a bath, scrub your skin lovingly in the shower, or massage your face while cleansing your skin at night  -  you are literally creating a self-love potion with the touch of your very own hands.

In today’s episode, you’ll learn four simple ways to polish the marble of your body temple, and turn your everyday routine into a ritual of reverence.

P.S. - In this episode I give some simple instructions on the Art of Self Massage. If you’d like to learn more and receive 7 full length, beautiful instructional videos, check out the course here:
