Episode 03 - Living Sensually In Solitude

"We are all moving in service to something."

This was just one of the jewels that dropped from the lips of my dear friend Susie Sourwine, a special guest on the podcast today.

I met Susie about 14 years ago.  At the time she was a high-powered executive, kicking ass in the corporate world.  I saw her as a real social butterfly, and a wise soul.

About two years ago, Susie made a big decision to leave the life she knew behind, rent a rambling gardeners cottage in the highlands of Scotland, and live a life of mostly quiet solitude (except for her big sheepdog Alfred.)

As someone who considers backyard BBQ's a form of camping, this intrigued me to no end.

Susie chronicles her story on Instagram and in a series of monthly, hand painted snail-mail letters sent from the Gardener's Cottage.

Her story is my favorite kind: that of a woman who is shedding the snakeskin of what a woman should be, and is discovering the woman she actually is.

Susie's story is brimming with sensuality, yet you will find no silk stockings or french champagne here.

In fact, what you'll find is a woman blissfully in her body, with wild, graying hair, tying up a lattice made of found fishing line for her snow pea seedlings to climb, skin still cool from a morning swim, getting warmer by the minute in the bright morning sun.

Susie shows us what it means to have an experience of the sensual that can only arise out of artful solitude.

I am so proud to share my dear friend and her re-wilding adventures with you.

With love,

Mary
