Do you ever wonder what your purpose is?
For many years, I went searching for my purpose like one might search for the perfect engagement ring.
“Maybe being a yoga teacher is my purpose!”
“No, maybe its being a feminine mindfulness teacher!”
“No, it’s being a holistic esthetician!”
Just typing these words, I feel exhausted.
I would start out on these projects, certain this was the trail of breadcrumbs that would lead me home to my purpose.
But just like any time we try to control something wild, eventually I would outgrow that current chosen identity, and the thick roots of my actual purpose would start breaking through the sidewalk of my life once again.
Slowly I began to realize that my purpose isn’t what I do, it is how I show up to what I’m doing. It is that authentic jewel of my essence that inspires people to slow down and be present. Whenever I bring that jewel, I am in my purpose.
That means that whether I’m teaching yoga or selling refrigerators, whether I’m washing the dishes or phone banking, I am in my purpose, right there, no need to go looking.
What a blessed relief.
I can think of no one who embodies this essence more than my friend and teacher, Rodrick Covington.
Rodrick is the founder of Core Rhythm Fitness, a boutique fitness company in NYC. He is a wildly talented Broadway actor, and a passionate freedom fighter in the Black Lives Matter Movement.
But more than the things he does, Rodrick’s sparkling integrity and irresistible magnetism have taught me what it means to live your life on purpose.
I am delighted to share his special energy and wisdom with you on the podcast today.
You’ll hear about:
Rodrick’s unique approach to fitness as a form of radical self love
Navigating change and saying yes to your own evolution in the face of extreme challenges
Finding your purpose from within, and using it to show up powerfully in your life and in the world
Showing up for systemic change with strength and resilience
